I leave them in one area all the time. If there is poop, I just take a tissue then pick it up and flush it. If there are any tiny brown spots left, I use a stain spray cleaner so when I do wash the entire pad, the stain comes out. I don't take it up with only one or two tiny pee spots. When they don't seem to want to go on it any longer, I throw it in the wash on delicate and cold water and liquid dreft, and hang outside to dry.
