I wish someone had given me this advice a looooong time ago. When I was pregnant, my mother-in-law called to ask if she could be in the delivery room with us. I told her no--not even MY mother was going to be in there. She got upset, told everyone I was rude to her and called my husband CRYING saying that I'd hurt her feelings. Then she told everyone that she'd been there for the birth of her other 2 grandkids (her daughter's) and she didn't care what anyone said, she was going to be in there for this one too. Needless to say, MY parents thought she was nuts and were NOT going to let that happen.
