Well, showdogs are not all like that. In fact, that would likely have to do with the way they are raised. Because responsible owners of showdogs know that it's not just how the dog looks, it's also their personality traits as well. I'm guessing you had a bad experience with one to be making such a generalized statement. And if that is the case, I'm sorry that happened. But making a statement like that is about as ignorant as making a statement like "all black males are criminals". It's not true, and it's racist. Your statement comes off like that... strongly. I don't do the dog show thing, but if I did, I would find your whole contest insulting.
As a mother of a 12 year old, I know that young people say things a lot without thinking before opening their mouths. So I'm hoping that this person will see where we (those of us that took offense to the statement) are coming from, perhaps issue an appology if he/she means it, and maybe do some research on showdogs in general. |
