I found some large white towels on sale, and just folded them in half and sewed the edges, turned right side out and sewed the third edge. Probably a better way would be to put an absorbant pad in the middle, but these work fine, and only a few times I noticed a stain on the other side, not actually on the carpet underneath, but the pad itself. Another option is to get a waterproof pad and lie it under the homemade pads just to be sure. Don't overlook places like Goodwill for supplies.
