As pet owners we don't really need to be concerned with standard, although I think it's important for puppy buyers to support those breeders who follow standard. I mean we can have a pet who's ears are little large or whose nose is a little long, but it still resembles a Yorkie, however if breeders breed whatever the want, the dogs eventually will not even retain the yorkie look. No dog is 100 percent perfect, unless they are a pet!
