They don't need the veggies/fruits but it doesn't harm them. Raw can be difficult if not done correctly. For this reason, some people find it preferable to add raw on top of Honest Kitchen since it is already balanced.
We feed HK because it's about the only thing my Lily can tolerate (as far as prepared foods go).
