Ahhhh.......earmites! Very common. With earmites the key is to treat for days until they are all killed. At least 3 days, sometimes 2 treatments a day.
I use old wives tales remedies so here goes: I use olive oil-just a drop or two.
Put in ear with a medicine dropper and give it a minute to reach the bottom of the canal. Then rub the ear at the head until you hear clicking sounds. This lets you know you worked it down where you wanted it to go. Do other ear...(doggies love this)
OR use Frontline or whichever GOOD spot on flea treatment you have-liquid only-put in a drop or two with medicine dropper, proceed as above. I usually do the Frontline ear treatments on days I apply the Frontline. A medicine dropper gets the Frontline that stays and coats the green thing Frontline comes in....Uses all if it.
