I'm sure you do not realize this but you have been teaching your dog commands already. I'm sure you use the word "Come" or "here", "No", "good girl" etc... They are all commands.

So it isn't too early or late to teach. Just have short fun sessions with you puppy and have lots and lots of treats available.
