Default Max update

First of all thank you all for your replies. Its good to be able to reach out.

I bathed Max and have attached an updated picture of what the "situation" now looks like. It looks like he has a little scab below his anus but not right next to it.

From what I have read about anal gland ruptures there are 2 prior stages before it just ruptures. One of the symptoms is that the dog strains to poop and he has never had a problem pooping and in fact pooped this morning with the bloody butt without a problem.

I'm actually living in Chicago (have to update my profile) and my vet and other local vets appear to be closed today. I put some skin relief lotion and am going to buy some Neosporin to put on as well and cover the area so he doesn't nibble on it. If it's still bad tomorrow, I'm going to take him to the vet.

Let me know what you think it might be with this new picture.
