It's funny you mention Costco. They had a bit on tv a little while back that said Costco is the largest wine retailer in the country.
I have a hard time with the difference too. I usually try and find the cheapest wine that is good and I will go up in price if something sucks.
Like I like Red Door Pinot Noir and I can usually find it for under $10.
At the holidays, I buy quite a few bottles of Biltmore's Christmas wine. It's a little sweet and we drink it with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, I love it! It's about $12.
I always stay under $15 a bottle.
