Yay! I love a happy ending!

I found a Cairn Terrier running down a busy street a couple of weeks ago. I called him and he ran right up to me and let me put him in my car. My poor niece, I had to put him on top of her and man was he ever stinky! He had an ID tag with two numbers, but they were both disconnected. He also had a rabies tag, and I called the issuing Vet's office and they gave me a cell number. I called that number and a woman answered who was driving home from work, poor lady had no idea her dog was even missing. They had recently moved into a new home, and her husband had let the dog escape from the back yard when he was working on landscaping. They came and picked him up, and meanwhile my two really enjoyed playing with another terrier. He was so easy to get into the car, anyone could have stolen him and kept or sold him.

Just another example of why it is good not only to keep ID tags on your dogs, but ID that contain current contact info. It is so much more difficult to reunite a lost dog with it's owners if it doesn't have any ID or inaccurate ID.
