I wouldn't use the crate as punishment - the crate should be a place where your furbaby feels safe, like their den. If it is fear, you need to associate the towels or cloth with positive things, like treats. Start slowly by just placing the towel on the ground and allow her to sniff the towel on her own - give a treat when she does. Do NOT give a treat if she is growling or snapping - then you would be enforcing a negative behavior. Bullet and Rio didn't like getting brushed at first so I always included yummy treats along with the grooming session. I slowly phased out the treats during the brushing as they got used to it. Now when they see their brush and comb they come running because they know a treat is always included at the end.
