I never noticed she had a problem with it until she was about 5 months old. I've never heard about anything like it and their is not much information on the web either and what information I could find it was always in larger breed dogs. Claire's looked like it was pushed inside her and the surrounding skin tightened around it like a draw string and you could only see a tiny bit like an 1/8 of an inch sticking out. I've taken her into the vet when I first noticed this and my vet has seen this condition before. Claire has been rechecked every few months and she has never had any health issues because of it either so my vet said so far it was only cosmetic. My vet also suggested we let her go through a heat cycle to see if it would pop out. I had her in my vets office on Monday because she was in heat and it wasn't popping out and it looked painful and the surrounding skin had even split with the swelling in the tail area. For months me and my husband have had to hold her down and pull it out to clean it twice a day because it got stinky dirty. She will cross her back legs now if you try to rub her tummy.
Well finally did pop out and I pray it stays out. The is an operation called a vulvaplasty that can correct it if it goes back in. My vet did say some dogs that have this condition will get infections. The technical name for her condition is called vulval involution.
