I am sorry to have taken so long here to update. I was pretty floored by what the vet had told me and needed some time to digest it. I am so used to being able to fix pups and I am not sure that we can do that for Gabby. She may just have some long lasting limitations. I don't think that bothers her as much as it does me...she is quite the charming little pupster!

Just a sweetie and she was wagging her tail today and licking me even though I know she is uncomfortable.
For now: They believe that Gabby has had an injury or some other event to her back/spine that has caused her to be unable to control her hind legs. She has hypermetria and is quite uncoordinated. An xray was done to r/o AAI. They do believe this is a very old injury or event due to the fact that she has a large amount of muscle wasting. We will be following up with a neurologist.
Her left eye did have an ulcer that is actually healing...perhaps because the shelter did treat it! She is on eye medications now and will continue them until it is healed. She will not have perfect vision as it was a large ulcer but she will not be losing the vision in that eye totally.
They said that she is incontinent, but I am going to question that tomorrow because she is full of feces (that was seen on xray) and I swear she was trying to move them tonight. Perhaps she is a bit impacted. They did not think so, but I just have that feeling, since she was puckering and I saw stool in there this evening.
She had a horrible UTI .. lots of blood and bacteria in her urine. She was given an injection of Convenia for that.
We did do labs on her and a heartworm test...those results will be back tomorrow.
Her teeth are just dreadful and I am sure she will lose quite a few teeth when she has a dental.
She is sound asleep now. She had a bath and ate well.

Poor baby is painfully thin. She weighs slightly over 5 pounds and probably should put another 2 pounds on.
God Bless all of you for all you have done, for your kind words, your thoughts and prayers, orders from the YHR Boutique, and donations. You are all an amazing bunch of people!

Oh...and as for her name. Lizzie was a great suggestion, but YHR had a Lizzie in the past and I avoid using names that have been used; so, I stuck with Gabby. Her Aunt Lissette was fine with that!
