Hmm...I don't really know an answer but I can tell you how much my little girl goes. She goes out roughly 5 times a day, well I think that's about how many times she goes out to go potty. If its raining that's about how much she goes out otherwise she wants out every half hour to go play. So I guess if its a pretty day she may go more since she outside anyway. She's 5.5 lbs and was a year old in October and you can probably guess she's a female.
Your guy may be drinking more water than my girl though and maybe the sex of the dog plays a role in it as well. Maybe others can give you more help.
