I need to get my Bella spayed soon too!! Not to scare anyone, because I'm sure this just can happen from time to time.
I am petrified of having her spayed after my VERY large Rhodesian Ridgeback was almost lost during her spay. Her heart rate kept dropping and her temp dropped through the floor, after her surgery. She was very shocky and was kept for 24 hours to make sure she could stabilize herself. Getting IV fluids and medications, for the life of me I can't remember the medications. Vet assumed she was having a reaction to the anesthesia, worst thing in the world when you drop your baby off with a respected vet to get a phone call saying, OH by the way we almost lost your dog........she will have to stay with us for awhile to make sure she will be ok. I DID not go back to that vet, not that it was her fault, I just couldn't seem to shake the feeling that she did something wrong.
A year later, my son and I were at the store shopping, and we came across THE vet, and my son walks up to her and says. Hi there, my name is Carter, I met you once, but aren't you the lady that almost killed my dog?? Ohhh the innocense of children.
But, yes I will spay my Bella, I just have to get the courage up to do it.
