How are you getting items like meat and produce???......
I rarely see a coupon for produce and I never see any for meat(other than sausage, bacon and bologna) I typically see coupons for prepackaged convenience foods which I try to use sparingly. I also wanted to ask if they factor in the price they paid for the coupons and the postage into their *savings* rather than just looking at the store receipt. I saw one woman mention she paid $70 for some coupons, was that figured in??.... |
That's something I've always wondered, too. I don't use clipping services, but I do count the cost of my papers in to my total ( I also used to count the amount I paid to be part of the Grocery Game site) just so I could be more accurate. I keep everything on a spread sheet so I could keep accurate records of how much I am saving with the addition of coupons versus just the regular "sale" prices. My biggest gains have come from stock piling versus just buying for the upcoming week.
I don't buy a lot of prepared foods either, but there are tons of coupons for the basics out there. I've also had to learn that just because I had a coupon for it, didn't mean it was something I had to buy. I figure that as long as the TOTAL cost of my groceries are coming down, I'm coming out ahead.
