For quitters:
How old were you when you started?: 18, almost 19
How long did you smoke?: about 2-3 years
What made you want to quit?: I could think of a million good reasons to quit (bad for you, gmother died from lung cancer, would break my mother's heart, smells up my car, cost too much money, etc), but only one selfish one to keep on...because I liked it. Compared to the reasons to quit...it seemed selfish!
What brand did you smoke?: Marbrol (sp?) Lights, then Basic Menthols
Approx how many per day?: 1 pack, I guess...more if I went out at night, was stressed, etc
Do you still think about smoking? How often?: Now and again. I still have a cigarette occasionally...like maybe once every 6 months when I go out for a drink or two (seriously, I drink a total of 5 or 6 drinks a year, and that is pushing it.) If I am really upset about something (like when my best friend died last year) I'll have one. The urge never really goes away, but it does get to where you are not just nervous, snappy and anxious. I know that once every 6 months or so I'll have one, that keeps me from being like, "Oh God, those made me feel good and I'll NEVER get to do it again." I swear though...if I live to see 90, I may start again. At that point, what will it matter?

Chin up girl...it's a tough road, but after about 4 days, the craving will go away. You'll break down in about a week and grab one up thinking it's going to be great and by that time, they will taste HORRIBLE and it will give you a headache and kill any urge you ever had for them. A word of advice...when you do break down...and you will...grab the strongest brand you can...negative reinforcement. Good luck!
