Sadly, this past Thursday we had to euthanize his companion and good doggy friend Zachary. Zachary was going to be 15 years old in May. He had Cushing's disease and although we had been able to manage this disease with medication his tumor had stopped responding to the meds and it appears it had started to spread to other areas.
Happy has been devastated as we all are right now, he brings Zachary's toys onto Zachary's bed and sleep with them - he never did this until the morning we didn't come home with Zach. He does spend time looking around for him and is clingy - as to be expected.
Life has changed for all of us without Zachary, we hope to be able to adjust and that Happy too will adjust as time moves on. He sees us cry so much lately and will come over, nudge you with his nose until you pick him up, then he presses next to your hip and tucks his little face under your arm, which is incredibly sweet and intuitive of him. |
This happened in our home when our daughter was murdered. Our little Ginger yorkie would go to the window every day when it was the time she would have been coming home from work. She would go in her room and look for her and lay on her pillow. She did these things for around 3-4 months. There were other things too, that I won't go into. You hear about animals being intune to spirits? Believe it. No one could ever convince me otherwise now, with what happened here.
