The small Madan Pin Brushes are able to brush out the most stubborn of mats. I purposely didn't brush Mimi (when she had floor length hair) for a week. We went out for walks every day & she got very matted in the areas where the harness rubs.
I sprayed directly on the mat & line brushed her & it took me almost an hr, but was able to brush out all the tangles w/out cutting any hair off. The small & oblong have a firmer cushion & are great at brushing out tangles/mats w/out hurting their skin or pulling out too much hair. The softer cushioned brushes 'glide' through the mats, so you need to go in w/a comb & comb it out.

Those unfamiliar w/line brushing, that's when you start w/a section of hair & brush downwards in layers starting from the bottom, working your way up. The problem w/ line brushing w/a slicker brush is that it scratches. Try it on your hand or arm, it hurts. The Madan pins are beveled & repeated brushing over the skin does not hurt.

Please PM or email me (jyoung_01@hotmail.com/ contact@toplinepet.com) if you have any questions & I'll be happy to help you out!
