If Gizmo did well on Natural Balance and you wanted to go grin free, Natural Balance does make a grain free food. Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet Potato & Duck Small Breed Bites! That's what I feed Rylie.
With any food it is important to switch them over gradually. Did you mix the food in slowly? Increasing the portion of new food gradually until it is all new food? There are instructions on YT for how to do this. If you switch them over all at once it can cause upset tummies and poor poops.
