My understanding of the 40 some thousand genes that comprise a dog's "make up"...the most research and known information is in regards to coat color.

There is a genetic marker available for the piebald gene so yes... whether a dog was a "carrier" or "splitter" could be determined via DNA.

Now what about the other colors? Golden? Chocolate? These are specific colors. Are there markers for them?
