I live in middle TN, but I also found it very difficult to find a reputable breeder in my area. It seems every one either did not test for genetic defects, bred for teacups, bred for parti-color, sold at 6-8 weeks, and/or sold multiple breeds. Usually several red flags each. My family ended up getting ours from a backyard breeder (my mother's decision, I was against it) and ours has several problems (floppy ears, woolly coat, luxating patella, and much bigger than the breeder said).
I plan on getting another puppy next year to be mine to take with me when I move out (I'm in college) and will have to find a reputable breeder then. |
