Someone mentioned petsmart, I don't take mine there either. It's exposing them to unknown dogs |
I understand. It's a shame there are irresponsible dog owners who don't properly take care of their dogs. But I'm not going to totally shelter my dog who really
needs dog parks since he's an only dog and thrives with canine companionship. I'm also going to continue to take him on walks in areas where other dogs have most likely been... because he needs walks and exercise. I mean, there's risks with everything, and I'm not going to start worrying about EVERY little thing and keep my dog in my house and yard 24/7. I also realize I'm very lucky to have such good dog parks because I know a lot of areas don't have the luxury. For someone like me who does not have a fenced in yard or a second dog, dog parks are a savior and we've had no issues thus far.

I have never heard of any disease outbreaks at our local dog parks, but they are generally very well maintained. |
I also will not let Jackson in the big side. I have before at our smaller dog park if it's a few (meaning like 2 or 3) mellow big dogs... but even that, I very rarely do. He gets along great with big dogs that he knows but with sooo many big dogs running around, it makes
me uncomfortable knowing how easily he could get trampled, even being 15lbs.
