It is hard to say- the puppy should drink a "ounce" every few hours . This was just a example. What I do is use a digital food scale and weigh the kids.
They should be keeping their weight on a day to day basis and should show some growth no matter what. I don't care if it is 1/8 ounce I want to see something positive. The gruel of the dry food with water and formula is a excellent way to start. Once your baby starts on dog food weight should pick up- and as he gets teeth he will want less of the gruel and will be looking for dry food.
