We had decided on the dark girl, as the breeder wanted to keep one herself and already have several with dark face. She has now however told us that we can pick whichecer we want :-) btw, the litter is 5 pups, is that good for such a small dog, or is thtis normal or small?

In your opinion, what are the most common "faults" according to the breed standard? When we go down to pick out one of these girls, what do you think we should pay special attention to?
Very good question. I think first do your homework on the health of the breeding pair. Are they and their line free from LP, Luxating Patella, any CT Collapsed Trachea in the lines, or LS Liver Shunt. What kind of health guarantee and support does this breeder offer for her pups? Have the dam/sire been tested for PRA Progressive Retinal atrophy?

Then think about what kind of temperament you'd like in your girl. Some dogs are shyer more quiet and retiring; some are inquisitive, boisterous, ready to go at a moment's notice.

Adult size; while the breeder can only "guesstimate" if you want a girl to be to the larger end of the standard then share that with the breeder.

Spend some time just watching the pups interact with each other and playing and running around.

You might want to read this article and others that are in the YT library.

Good luck once you bring your little one home; post pics, we love pics here
