I think the towel idea with two people sounds good. If it works - do it!

My one dog, a bichon, does like his nails clipped either. But he is nowhere near the problem your little Yorkie is.

I just clip one or two nails at a time and then play with him (and give him a treat - because this gets his attention on something else very quickly - and then let him go. This way he doesn't have enough time to get too upset. It takes me a couple of times to get through all his nails. But, it is much easier (and less traumatic) than trying to do all his nails in one sitting.

I also always cut only a small part away - I know that if I ever cut too much and hurt him, he'd never forget it and would be much worse. I can say that since I am so careful and don't hurt him - he has actually become better about getting his nails cut.

As a side point, I think he was hurt, in the past, getting his nails clipped at the groomers --- because he acted so afraid of having it done for such a long time.
