It's been my experience in my very limited time in the show ring....here in Canada that the bitches that I've see shown are considerably larger than the dogs. Not always, but in general. My boy is on the smaller side of what I see usually at 5 lbs 3 oz and 9 1/2 " at the shoulder. But I've seen a lot of larger dogs that aren't necessarily nicer...they might look nice stacked, but when they move they don't move well.
I find that in the specials ring larger dogs are the normal, Sebastien definitely looks small compared to many.
In Vegas there were all sizes, surprisingly to me in the BOB class many of the well known dogs that are at the top of the stats were not as big as I thought they'd be, for instance Hit the Jackpot, Stringer's Something's got to Give, Diamond Jim ,Lane's Mini Cooper ....just top name a few are all dogs of little more than 5 lbs. This made me feel better about my little guy. |
