A coat that become greasy and has an odor in a week is usually due to a seborra type skin condition...the skin may be perfectly clear, but too much oil is being secreted...the vets have excellent shampoo's for these types of problems.
My Yorkies are cut down to medium coat and I like to bath every 10 days...but when we were moving they went a month and none has any odor at all..and that is the way a Yorkie should be...the coat may not look its best but odor in a Yorkie is a dead give away there is an oil problem.

IF you can take a paper towel and rub over the coat and you get oil, they ahve a problem that needs special shampoo....
