My dh and I were both adamant when we got our little princess that no dog was going to share the bed with us. But the first night when she cried, and sounded so forlorn, I started crying and told dh that I couldn't stand leaving her alone in her kennel, so I put her in our bed, and that was that. She slept there with us for a couple of years, until she started peeing on the carpet in the morning before we were awake. So she's in her kennel at night, but at the foot of our bed. I think the time we all slept in one bed was great for her. She never woke us up moving around, she just adapted to any position we were in and snuggled up. She loved going under our covers and curling up against my side. I slept better too! Sometimes we still put her in our bed, on holidays when fireworks go off especially. And she does jump up on our bed and snuggle under our covers most every morning when she's let out. They are so much like kids, it's uncanny. Good training for future parents
