Sounds like he needs to return to the vet. The symptoms are increasing in frequency and getting worse so 'resting up' apparently did not do it.
I would second the bile acids test if not already done; the symptoms certainly sound similar to liver shunt; but also could be a lot of other things.
Can you tell us what tests were done?
