Default Need help with Car anxiety

I'm hoping someone can give me good advise on how to help my new Yorkie overcome an anxiety for the car. He's 3 years old and has been pretty much kept out of cars because he was nervous. I've only had him 2 weeks now and don't expect a miracle. Time and patience will be required to help Shiloh.

Its important that he start to feel safe in the car. I take my dogs to as many places with me as I can and I take them in the car every day. I won't leave the little guy behind when the Golden gets to go with Mommy.

Currently, we've basically ignored the anxiety. Once he's in the car for a few minutes he starts to calm down. Once he's calm, we give him attention and affection and he's ok until we get home. After a week, we were able to get him calmed down enough in the car that he would actually take a treat.

if anyone has any other ideas or has helped a Yorkie overcome an anxiety I would love to hear your experience!

Thanks

Nanoki
