I did a quick search on olive oil and found many sources that say it is safe for dogs, but I imagine it is like coconut oil in that the dog should be acclimated to it in small amounts to start with.
I still wouldn't give it to an 8 week old, and I would worry about the fat content for any dog that is particularly at risk for pancreatitis.
