Well IMO we need all breeders to do their utmost to "preserve" the breed. That is not so easy as you would think. to breed the right temperament, health, structure, coat and color. To leave the breed with good solid respresentatives of said breed.

To better the breed is the pinnacle of success. If only one breeder could breed out a major health concern of the Yorkie, yet still come true to type, coat, color, temperament, what an accomplishment!

For me bettering the breed encompasses the whole dog. To leave this breed better in if not "all ways" but in at least one way, with not losing out on all other traits or characteristics of the breed.
