In my quest to understand a true silk coat I found that seeing was the best for me. I have seen Yorkies in the ring that did not shine like this and was shocked when they won. I have seen jet black cotton coated tiny dogs with unclear heads win, wire coated and dyed dog with poor bite win his final 3 point major to champion. It is the hardest part I am having in the show arena. To watch poor representations of the breed, and in my opinion, poor pet quality dogs winning not just single points but majors to complete their championship is wrong. Learning about the "politics" is the harshest an worst to swallow for me. It turned me away 20 years ago and still I have a hard time seeing it. But I know when I finally finish my dogs, they will have truly earned it.
