I am not thrilled with the idea of using steroids, but if I have a pup that is itching and cannot stop, I will allow a one time dose to snap them out of it. I just did that with a foster pup recently who came to me loaded with fleas...he was itching like crazy even after all the fleas were gone. The vet gave him an injection and he is now fine.

I would not keep using flea shampoo. I have never used it on my pups. I really think that is overkill if you are using a flea preventative. Those shampoos can be irritating to the skin. You might want to try a prescription shampoo for now....ask your vet which one. I think chlorhexidine might be the one to use. I believe it helps to moisturize the skin.

As for food...everyone has their own choices. I feed my pups Castor & Pollux Ultramix.
Thank you for the info. I wil call the vet on Monday. I did not know what was the best food, I thought I would try a grain free holistic food to see if that helps even though they have been on the same dry food with boiled ground beef and sweet potatoes diced on top.I will see what the vet says on Monday. Thank you so much.
