I've been a little confused about this "big-male, small-male" issue, because of that. My vet (which I'm presently questioning the expertise and knowledge of) says the size of the male has nothing to do with the size of the pups. She said it all depends on the size of the litter, which she said is typically hereditary (if mama had a big litter, daughter has better chance of having a big litter).

?????
The number of pups in the litter does have some to do with size of pup but a large male will produce a bigger bone & head which will be harder to deliver.
