I've been a little confused about this "big-male, small-male" issue, because of that. My vet (which I'm presently questioning the expertise and knowledge of) says the size of the male has nothing to do with the size of the pups. She said it all depends on the size of the litter, which she said is typically hereditary (if mama had a big litter, daughter has better chance of having a big litter).

hubby breeds Beagles and I can tell you that the larger males 15" throw big pups. They have to be bred to a bitch at least the size of the male , if not larger. Our 13" stud, typically throws small pups.
