I don't have any info relative to dogs, but I have researched daily, longterm use by humans of similar medications and didn't find any evidence of side effects. My father takes Drixoral or an allergy med similar to Zyrtec daily. I was concerned at first, but I found tons of anecdotal evidence of allergy sufferers who have done the same for 30 years with no ill effects.
