Lettuce is very low oxalate if you stick with iceberg or romaine. Apples and pears are low also.
He actually gets both. My dad has a salad with each meal (excluding breakfast) and he has plenty of lettuce whites to share. My dad uses romaine exclusively and I eat both iceberg and romaine.
