Poppy was strange when she was being pad trained too.
She would poop on the pad in her pen then cry until I took it away, if I didnt take it away quick enough then she would eat it. Dogs are clean animals and she wants to keep her den/sleeping area clean.
Maybe the pad is absorbing the smell of the pee so it dosnt bother her so much.
If you eventually want her to be trained to go outside then I see no reason why she cant poop outside if she wants to.
Also if I caught Poppy pooping else where in the house I would pick her up and hold her close to the puddle/poop and say NO BAD! then put her outside. (note: I held her close so she knew what she was getting wrong for, I would NEVER rub her face in it, that is cruel.)
Just keep at it, they do eventually get the message. They are smart dogs and want to please you.
