I don't know how to define those words, but I call a dog a Premium food if it doesn't contain corn as the first ingredient. When corn is combined with other amino acids it forms a protein, and manufactures can count it as part of their overall protein. Again this is not necessarily a bad thing, but it should not be listed as the first ingredient. It's not the first ingrediant in RC, so I call RC a premium food. I guess the way it's defined over the internet is if you can buy a pet food at the grocery store, it's junk food, if you can buy it at Pet Smart and Petco, it may be a premium food. If you buy your food at dog boutiques or from private individuals it's considered Super Premium!

Whether you dog does best on "Super Premium or not, you'll have to decide. This is a great site for learning more about dog food and discerning some of the hype out there.
