According to Janet Jackson's book, "Yorkshire Terriers", during the juvenile period (14 weeks to 6-14 months) they need to be introduced to strangers (adults, children, and other dogs).

She's old enough now to start experiencing all that life has to offer.

But I do agree about the groomer. I did and insisted on staying at my groomer's the first few times. I know they all don't allow that though. I admit I am very protective.
