If the dog WAS lost then the owner obviously was not doing a very good job of taking care of it. Not to be ugly but he was "scruffy and weak" and very hungry. If he is blind in one eye, I would have had an extra watch on the little guy to make sure he did not get lost.
Brenab, my hat is off to you for taking this baby in. Not only have you given him a home but you are giving him love that he needs. Kudos to you!
Having him scanned for a microchip is not a bad idea; however, not to offend anyone, there is NO way I could take him to a shelter. That is just me. Any stray that comes my way ends up with a home. If I can't take them in I find somewhere for them to go. But I just can't take them to a shelter (I do understand it was for legal issues). Most of the people around here will have collars on their dogs if they are owned. The strays do not. But that is just in our area.
