I try to remind myself every January that eating is for fuel, not for fun! I do love food, but as I've gotten older, I've learned that it's not just the amount of food, but what types of healthy food, that really makes a difference on my energy level and periods of hypoglycemia. (I'm just like a tiny, I suffer from hypoglycemia if I don't eat right. ) I've tried to eat healthy all my adult life, but giving up white flour is the number one thing that has helped me, I haven't eaten much sugar in years, but white flour was still causing me problems, and I didn't even know that until I gave it up. This is hard to do, unless you are very dedicated. Whole wheat flour is so much better for me; I don't have the waves and dips in blood sugar if I eat whole wheat instead of white, so that means I also don't get periods where I feel like I'm starving, this of course helps with weight loss. I think it's important to never go on any type of weight loss diet that you don't think you can live with your entire life. I recommend that everyone keep a food journal, and learn how different foods affect them, their energy levels and moods. Just a little bit of white flour throws off the whole thing for me, but it only takes a 24 hours or so, for me to get back on track and feel good again.
