Teddy had a "few" struvite crystals also. They turned to many struvite crystals and they also joined together to form a small stone. Luckily we dissolved both using a product called Uroeze made by Virbac. We have struvites again after three months of not using the product and had hoped the crystals would not return. They have, unfortunately, but this time with no bacteria and no symptoms. It is just something Teddy is prone to. He is going back on uroeze and depending on what the nutritionist says after my consult with her on the 12th, it is probably going to be for life. I plan on asking her for a backup diet for my home cooking and I would use Hill's in a heart beat. They are a good company with research to back their diets and nutritionists on staff, unlike many other companies. Our vet nutritionist has a good view of Hill's. Many will disagree but I just go with what our specialist's view is and how well my dogs do on something. |
can i ask you with what food do you put the uroeze in? he has been on royal canin SO for about 1 week, still strains a little and/or with a few drops after his big pee..
I have been giving him 1/2 cup and more of water in his food, plus i give greek yogurt and 100% pure cranberry juice, about 1/2 tsp a day..
but i was wondering if the bully sticks are doing him any harm, as i dont know what he would do without them. he is a chewer.
