When you post on a public forum, you are going to get all sorts of opinions. It also needs to be kept in mind that the opinions given here aren't just for you, but for the next person who comes along that may be in the same situation and can learn from it.
Bottom line, the concern here is for the dog. Since we are charged with their care the second we take them in to our lives, then it's our responsibility to make sure that they get all the care they need for the rest of their lives.
