God sent me a little angel Been lurking for awhile, thought I should introduce myself. Discovered the forum a few months back when my little girl had pancreatitis for the first time. Have been through 2 bouts of pancreatitis (with levels off the vets charts). She now eats ID exclusively, much to her chagrin, but she is truly a little fighter, and we have a bond that is unbreakable.
Zoey's story, in brief:
On July 4th, 2009, my wife and I had just stopped at a grocery store on the way to a friends house for a 4th of July get together.
Shortly after pulling out of the parking lot onto a 6 lane road (3 each direction), all traffic was stopped with car doors open. Naturally, we open our doors, get out of the car, and people are all saying "catch the dog, catch the dog". After getting out of the car, within 10 seconds, out from under the car stopped next to us, a little dog comes running, and jumps into the passenger seat of my car! We both get back in, close the doors,a nd expect the owner to claim her. To our surprise, everyone else that had stopped got in their cars and drove off! So, here we are with a rather smelly little girl and noone to claim her. We first drove to a 24 hour emergency vet a mile or 2 away to have her checked for a microchip, and to see if anyone had reported a lost Yorkie. No luck. Being the 4th of July, no other vets were open, so we took her home, gave her a bath, and took her with us to the party, partially to keep an eye on her, and also afriad she might be eaten by what would become her new sisters (about 35 lbs each). After searching craigslist, the local papers, and driving around the area looking for signs for a couple of weeks, we gave up looking for a previous owner, we gave up the search and adopted her. She now goes by the name of Zoey, and has become my shadow around the house, not to mention the boss among the 4 legged children.
So, hello yorkietalk! Looks some really great people here, looking forward to being involved.
Merry Christmas to all,
