My boy had two retained baby teeth and had them removed when he was 6 months old and neutered.
My girl- was not spayed until 10 months old, and she had lost her last two baby teeth around 8 or 9 months.
I have heard of vets overlooking retained baby teeth when pets are altered- especially those who are not very experienced with small dogs- however, most will remove them during the altering- although they probably would have mentioned it to you (and likely charged you for it as well.)
