Hi all, it's been a while since I've posted but I decided to come here to try to calm some of my nerves as well as get some helpful tips and advice from those on these forums.
My Roxy is pregnant and due Friday Christmas Eve. When I took her to the vet this past Monday, to have the x-ray, I was blown away by the number of little heads and spines we saw. The Vet counted 7 - 8 and honestly i keep counting 9.
My Roxy is only 8.9 lbs (she's the same size she was when she had a litter of 5 back in August of 08).
I've attached a picture of the x-ray here. Maybe ya'll can look over it and tell me how many you see.
My concerns now are for Roxy, she handled the five she birthed back in 08 with ease. Now with such a large litter I'm just not sure how she's going to handle it.
I have all of my whelping supplies on hand, I have a nice whelping box that will fit the large litter and momma. I've gotten all the supplies to make the whelping pudding and I've been giving eggs, cottage cheese, and livers mixed in with her own food. I've been keeping in close contact with my vet and I'll be contacting him the minute Roxy goes into labor. I'm aware that a c-section may be in order and I'm fully prepared to go that route if I have to. I'm just so concerned for Roxy because the litter is so large.
Any advice on what else I should do to prepare?? Calm my nerves?
THANKS!!!
